General
Information Our aim, whenever possible is to use accommodation that is in keeping with the area that we visit, being local in character, and generally locally owned.
Food South Indian food is generally spicy but not mouth burning curry, consisting of fresh fish and vegetables. Fresh fruit and nuts are widely available, as is mineral water. We cater for vegetarians and those with special dietary requirements. . Bringing your own bike or not We recommend that you bring your own bike, as you will probably feel more comfortable with what you know. Bikes are usually transported free as part of your luggage allowance. We'll advise you on airline procedures if you are unfamiliar with these. If however you don’t have a bike or feel that yours is not suitable it is possible for you to hire. Contact us for more details. Cycles, equipment and terrain Kerala has mixed terrain. Most of our cycling will be along the flat costal roads, although when we head inland up to Periyar and Munnar we will encounter some fairly hilly areas. Road surfaces vary but are generally good. A normal mountain bike or touring bike would be suitable. Please ensure that your bike is in good working order and that you come prepared with sufficient spares and tools to fix punctures and make minor repairs. Lights will not be necessary. We will advise you on appropriate clothing after booking, or you can always contact us at any time for further information on any aspect of the tour. Passports/Visas
You must have a passport, which has at least six months validity remaining
at the end of the tour. Visas are required by all UK residents travelling
to India and you will be responsible for completing your own visa application.
For an application form please contact: The High Commission of India,
India House, Aldwych, London, WC2B 4NA. Health No innoculations are legally required for entry into India, however we strongly recommend that you be vaccinated against Typhoid, Tetanus, Polio and Hepatitis A. Protection against Malaria is essential. It is advised that you contact your Doctor no less than 3 months before departure to arrange vaccinations and anti-malaria protection. |
